About The Position

This position involves operating manual lathes and using basic hand tools to machine and polish parts according to specifications. The operator will read specifications, determine machining processes, calculate material shaping, select appropriate tools, set up and operate equipment, and monitor the machining process for any issues. Basic machine maintenance is also a responsibility. Detail orientation is essential for this role.

Requirements

• Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and move materials up to 50lbs
• Ability to stand or walk an entire shift (can be approx... 8-10 hours)
• Ability to use handheld tools such as drills, impacts, hammers, calipers, and micrometers
• Detail oriented

Responsibilities

• Operating manual lathes
• Using basic hand tools
• Checking specifications and readouts for parts
• Making decisions on machining or polishing processes
• Calculating how to shape metal or other materials
• Deciding what tools will be needed
• Placing the work piece on equipment and setting controls
• Monitoring the machining process for problems
• Monitoring the speed and heat of the machine
• Performing basic maintenance of the machine
