About The Position

ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC is a joint venture owned by Chevron and Jacksons Food Stores. The ExtraMile system is currently made up of more than 1100 convenience stores in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. The growth of the Company has resulted in opportunities to expand the ExtraMile brand within the current footprint, as well as to other states – resulting in exciting new employment opportunities. We are currently seeking a Conversion and Training Consultant that will be home-based in the Northern California metro market. This position requires the ability to communicate with all levels of the Company, but most importantly with our franchise, internal partners, and suppliers. When not in the field managing project deliverables, the position will be home-based, and the candidate must reside in the Northern California metro area. The Conversion and Training Consultant is responsible for ensuring successful franchise openings and conversions by overseeing site readiness, system deployment, merchandising execution, and comprehensive staff training. This role ensures each location adheres to brand technology and operational standards prior to launch. It requires strong project coordination capabilities, technical proficiency with POS/PDI systems, and the ability to deliver effective training in dynamic field environments.

Requirements

  • Ability to multi-task within a team structure and independently.
  • Proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.
  • Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to travel within state and out of state 75% of the time.

  • Knowledge of convenience store (C-store) operations and Franchise business model a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site assessments to verify construction progress, equipment installation, and layout compliance.
  • Confirm full installation and functionality of Back Office Systems (BOS), POS, and PDI software (Verifone and Gilbarco).
  • Collaborate with ASC technicians and IT teams to deploy, test, and troubleshoot systems; ensure accurate configuration of Pricebook, department/speed keys, tax rates, and POS settings.
  • Support Retailer-to-Retailer (RORO) conversions by reimaging systems, validating data integrity, and training incoming operators.
  • Coordinate with Category Managers and Pricebook Team to validate planogram accuracy and product scan functionality.
  • Lead store resets, fixture installations, and merchandising of center-store and cooler sections.
  • Remove non-compliant backstock, apply price labels, and ensure adherence to brand merchandising standards.
  • Verify installation and operational readiness of foodservice equipment (e.g., UNOX/MXP ovens, grills).
  • Stage food products and smallwares; ensure sanitation stations and supplies are in place and compliant with food safety regulations.
  • Deliver hands-on training covering food safety, product handling, sanitation, equipment maintenance, storage protocols, waste management, and promotional execution.
  • Facilitate team practice sessions for all food and beverage offerings.
  • Provide in-person training for Operators, Managers, and CSRs on PDI back-office functions, handheld device usage, product ordering, POS operations, and daily store procedures.
  • Conduct follow-up training to address turnover or compliance gaps and reinforce operational standards.
  • Offer on-site support during openings, conversions, and system redeployments.
  • Partner with Franchisees, Project Managers, vendors, and internal teams to align schedules, deliveries, and system installations.
  • Monitor project timelines, labor hours, and expenses to maintain budget and schedule adherence.
  • Identify potential site issues early and propose actionable solutions to mitigate delays.
