If this aligns with your values and you want to join a leader in the banking industry, we are hiring for a Conventional Underwriter that works alongside the Government Underwriter, performing a variety of duties pertaining to the analysis of processing, underwriting and closing documents for residential mortgage loans in accordance with policies and procedures, regulations, and investor loan approval terms.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years’ mortgage processing experience with both wholesale & correspondent loans
  • Knowledge of AUS engines (DU and LP)
  • Ideal candidate will have up-to-date knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac underwriting requirements
  • 3-5 years’ document review experience
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Individual should possess good interpersonal skills and be able to work within and foster a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and across all levels

  • Prior Conventional Underwriting experience

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and verifies loan applications and supporting documents; including credit reports, tax returns, paystubs, and property appraisals.
  • Assesses borrower’s creditworthiness and repayment ability; considering income, debt to income ratios and employment history.
  • Serves as the liaison between TIB and wholesale & correspondent banks concerning documentation issues within required timelines.
  • Mitigates risks by rendering and communicating decisions to wholesale & correspondent banks which includes data integrity and validity of information submitted to company and all risk factors related to credit, income, assets, appraisals, titles, and surveys.
  • Determines loan approval by verifying case file data to include findings and calculations.
  • Reconciles loan data by reviewing the Loan Originations and Automated Underwriting Applications Systems, and updates information when applicable.
  • Monitors rate locks on loans to ensure that program, product, and other loan feature changes are consistent with LOS/AU terms and guidelines.
  • Audits legal packages to ensure compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensures pipeline and pipeline report reflects the most current status for active loans.
  • Prepares proper documents on denied or withdrawn applications and updates loan records in computer system.
  • Maintains current and relevant knowledge of all guidelines, processes, and systems used within the area; including regulatory, statutory, and investor related issues.
  • Maintains a pipeline of loans with responsibility for the timely and compliant flow.
  • Provides excellent and consistent customer service by communicating & cooperating with all internal and external customers.
  • Clears conditions within designated authority level.
  • Complies with all banking laws and regulations, and maintains the confidentiality of bank and customer information.
