Requirements

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties.
  • Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards safety is essential.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience with jack leg and stoper with scissor lifts in an underground hard rock mine.

Nice To Haves

  • Operation of mechanical Epiroc and Sandvik bolters is an asset.
  • The safe installation of other ground support components such as cable bolts, as well as the application of dry shotcrete will be considered an asset.
  • Loading and blasting experience as well as holding a current blasting ticket will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and report unsafe conditions in underground headings.
  • Safe use of manual bolting (jackleg/stoper) and mechanized bolting machines.
  • The safe installation of various types of ground support is associated with the bolting process.
  • The safe installation of other ground support components such as cable bolts, as well as the application of dry shotcrete will be considered an asset.
  • Loading and blasting experience as well as holding a current blasting ticket will be considered an asset.
  • The safe installation/repair of mine utilities such as vent tubing, piping as well as fan installation using various lifting equipment.
  • Follow directives form shift supervisors to coordinate day-to-day ground control requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time at the discretion of the company.
  • Participate in daily toolbox safety meetings.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the department.
