Controls Technician
About The Position

Our Optical Communications segment has evolved into a comprehensive provider of optical solutions. This role is within the Optical Communications segment, focusing on providing industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. The role purpose is to perform technical duties and activities within prescribed time frames, participating in projects that support the development, installation, and improvement of control systems and automation technologies for R&D and manufacturing equipment.
Requirements
- Experience with industrial controls, automation systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for schematic development.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical drawings.
- Basic understanding of PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support project execution activities.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with industrial safety standards, electrical codes, and diagnostic testing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, installation, and troubleshooting of control systems for development and manufacturing equipment.
- Design and implement new controls capabilities, instrumentation, and measurement systems.
- Collaborate with equipment design engineers, deployment teams, and manufacturing partners throughout the technology development process.
- Support equipment startup, commissioning, and process implementation activities.
- Develop technical documentation and provide training for new control systems and equipment.
- Document testing results, observations, project outcomes, and research findings.
- Coordinate and support electricians during equipment installations and upgrades.
- Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues to improve equipment performance and reliability.
