About The Position

HireNow Staffing is actively recruiting a seasoned, highly skilled Controls Technician to join one of our valued client partners in the Mobile Bay Area. We are seeking a hands-on automation professional with strong experience in building automation systems, HVAC controls, DDC environments, low-voltage wiring, commissioning, and troubleshooting. This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys working independently in the field, solving complex automation challenges, supporting commercial and industrial clients, and ensuring building systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably. The Controls Technician will support the installation, startup, commissioning, service, and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial automation systems. This individual will work directly with control devices, automation platforms, communication networks, and electrical systems to ensure optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience with building automation systems, HVAC controls, or electrical control systems.
  • Strong understanding of DDC controls.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting low-voltage control wiring.
  • Ability to commission and service automation systems in the field.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience using electrical test instruments and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, and sequences of operation.
  • Experience documenting testing, commissioning, and service activities.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • No current or future visa sponsorship requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Tridium Niagara platforms.
  • Familiarity with Schneider Electric automation systems.
  • Experience working with BACnet, Modbus, or LON communication protocols.
  • Tridium Niagara N4 Certification.
  • HVAC service or controls background.
  • Commissioning experience on commercial facilities.
  • Networking and IP-based systems experience.
  • Experience supporting industrial automation applications.
  • Demonstrated employment stability and long-term career progression.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, terminating, and testing control wiring for sensors, actuators, panels, and field devices.
  • Commissioning building automation and DDC control systems.
  • Troubleshooting automation, electrical, communication, and network-related issues.
  • Loading, modifying, and validating control programs under engineering guidance.
  • Verifying system performance and documenting operational results.
  • Calibrating field devices to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, control drawings, and sequence documentation.
  • Utilizing diagnostic equipment and test instruments to identify system issues.
  • Maintaining accurate service records and project documentation.
  • Supporting safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with jobsite requirements.
  • Collaborating with project teams, engineers, and customers to resolve technical issues.
