About The Position

At Nestlé Purina PetCare’s Crete, Nebraska factory, the Controls Technical Specialist II troubleshoots, maintains, and enhances the accuracy, reliability, and data credibility of PLC- and PC-based automation systems. The role oversees PLC upgrades and wiring modifications on production equipment and works with the maintenance team to troubleshoot and support production-line modifications. The facility emphasizes safety, zero accidents, zero defects, and zero waste. The position is assigned to either second shift (3:00 PM–11:00 PM) or third shift (11:00 PM–7:00 AM), and requires availability for an on-call rotation during off hours.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent and at least 5 years of applicable experience troubleshooting PLC software and hardware and/or HMI systems in controls, automation, electrical, or industrial maintenance environments; or an associate’s degree in a technical discipline and at least 3 years of such experience.
Availability for an on-call rotation during off hours.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot automation systems and provide instrumentation, PLC, and HMI/SCADA software and hardware support to maintenance staff.
Execute plant and capital projects from conception through completion.
Maintain a current and complete set of as-built electrical and controls documentation.
Coordinate and implement control system software upgrades.
Perform network administration and data administration tasks for networked, PC-based control-system equipment.
Develop, read, and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and programs essential to plant operation, and update them as necessary.
Participate in an on-call rotation during off hours.
