About The Position

This role involves acting as the Lead Engineer for new programs, participating in their implementation and execution. Key responsibilities include preparing Statements of Requirements (SOR), forecasting, designing conveyor controls, and overseeing equipment build, run-off, and buyoff. The engineer will be responsible for the design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch, and continuous improvement of Paint Shop conveyor equipment and systems. This position also requires providing technical direction to outside vendors, managing deliverables to program timing milestones, and reporting project status to senior management. Additionally, the role includes providing support for existing programs and troubleshooting on the plant floor. Creating and maintaining standardized work, processes, and procedures for Paint Controls, and auditing their implementation for alignment to standards are also crucial. The engineer will provide technical direction to other Controls engineers and will be involved in designing and troubleshooting electrical controls systems and error-proofing systems. The work may also involve the development and testing of advanced process technology. The position operates under a Hybrid Work Policy, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, with the ability to report to the local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study.
  • Seven (7) years of experience as a Controls Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or related role.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Electrical and control systems.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Mechanical concepts involving machine designs, process requirements involved in the manufacturing process.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with PLC and HMI programming including Ethernet and Devicenet networks.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Motion control and drives.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Designing and troubleshooting electrical controls systems.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Project management.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Plant floor work and systems in Paint Shops.
  • Seven (7) years of experience with Global Production Monitoring and Controls (GPM&C), Production Routing and Tracking (PR&T), and WebTip.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Lead Engineer for new programs.
  • Participate in new program implementation and execution such as Statement of Requirements (SOR) preparation, forecasting, conveyor controls design, equipment build/run-off and buyoff.
  • Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of Paint Shop conveyor equipment and systems.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to outside vendor sources.
  • Manage deliverables to program timing milestones.
  • Provide project reports to senior management.
  • Perform existing program and site support including troubleshooting.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all customers and plants.
  • Create, maintain, and improve Paint controls standardized work, processes, and procedures.
  • Audit Paint Controls implementation for alignment to standards.
  • Provide technical direction to other Controls engineers.
  • Design and troubleshoot electrical controls systems and error proofing systems.
  • Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology.
