Controls System Engineer

GMMilford, MI
Hybrid

About The Position

This role involves working closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to understand functional requirements and implement appropriate control solutions. The engineer will define controls and diagnostics subsystem level requirements, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, government policies, and internal standards. Responsibilities include ensuring subsystem level test requirements and verification, optimizing controls design through modeling and simulation, and developing controls-oriented models. The position also involves defining calibration strategies, promoting model-based practices, supporting issue resolution, and creating tools and training materials. Mentoring new employees and adhering to safety precautions are also key aspects of the role. The position operates under a hybrid work policy, requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, with the ability to report to a local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Development Engineer, Product Engineer, or related role.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Safety Critical Design.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Simulink, MATLAB, DOORs or GIT environments.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Plant modeling or data analysis tools.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Major automotive subsystems.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Design, implementation and testing of embedded Controls.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Software-in-Loop, Model-in-Loop or Hardware-in-Loop Simulation.
  • One (1) year of experience with Programming using C.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to understand functional requirements and implement appropriate control solutions.
