Controls Software Engineer

Dig EnergyManchester, NH
Onsite

About The Position

Dig Energy is upending the economics of geothermal drilling with a system that cuts borehole installation costs by 80%, making geothermal heating, cooling, and refrigeration the default option for commercial buildings. The company has secured funding, is deploying rigs on construction sites, and is scaling toward large projects. The upcoming year is focused on team building and refining equipment and systems for real-time deployment on job sites. This is an on-site role at the Manchester office. The controls software engineer will be responsible for all programming related to the unique geothermal drill rig, requiring in-depth knowledge of controls theory, fault handling, and HMI design. This role involves close collaboration with the CTO on software architecture and full implementation responsibility. It is a hands-on position, requiring comfort with both desk coding and field support during testing.

  • 5+ years designing machine controls, automation or system software, ideally in the industrial equipment/construction/robotics industries
  • Experience architecting robust, scalable software from the ground up, including establishing project structure, tooling, and development standards for a growing team, early-stage startup experience a plus
  • Experience coding HMIs of SCADA systems
  • Comfortable coding in C++ and Python
  • Proficiency working in embedded Linux environments, including CLI tooling, system, and networking
  • Robust software engineering practices around source control (GitHub), testing, code review, and documentation
