This role is field-based, with work conducted on-site at customer locations. As a Controls Project Specialist, under limited supervision, you are responsible for project set up and seeing them through to full completion with direct responsibility for project execution, to accomplish specific goals in a given time frame and with limited resources. This includes project documentation, materials, job costing, status monitoring, invoicing, and administrative closeout of each project. This position is required to closely interact with customers, Project Managers, and other assigned project staff to ensure the timely completion of each project.

Requirements

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three (3) plus years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have strong communication skills, proactive approach with willingness to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Proven experience prioritizing tasks in order to meet tight deadlines within a high-paced environment.
• Previous experience with financial systems and basic accounting.
• Flexibility to work overtime/ weekends, as required.
• Regular travel to construction sites within the territory
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

Nice To Haves

• Participate in and contribute to lean improvements activities
• Construction law and regulation knowledge is preferred
• Familiarity with the operation of HVAC Systems preferred not required.

Responsibilities

• Under limited supervision, plans and reviews assigned projects, establishes schedules and project parameters and sets procedures to accomplish system goals.
• Connect and communicates with customers and their representatives, including building owners, mechanical contractors, other trades, subcontractors, and field support staff.
• Read and comprehend construction schedules.
• Schedule and participate in internal project team meetings to ensure accurate transfer of information.
• Validate cost to date and reconciles project data in business system.
• Manage invoicing process and coordinate format, layout, attachments, and mailing with Shared Financial Services.
• Review billing backlog and coordinate/communicate with Project Managers, HVAC Field Technicians, customers, and Trane claims as necessary to resolve obstacles.
• Share project concerns with Project Manager and legal staff.
