This role is responsible for building controls design utilizing direct digital controls on a variety of building types, in regard to the electronic comfort control and automation systems. The role involves obtaining and reviewing contract documents; proposals mechanical plans, specifications, estimates, equipment submittavits, etc. for incorporation into the design of an automation system. The engineer will create installation drawings, submittal drawings, as-built drawings, and transition to service. Responsibilities include developing advanced sequences of operations, generating Operation and Maintenance Manuals, and reviewing contract documents and conducting job surveys. The role also involves reviewing equipment submittals for incorporation into design and transitioning these documents to the field. Acquiring and maintaining knowledge of Trane Controls products and offerings along with applicable 3rd party devices is essential. The engineer may also be responsible for preparing cost estimates for projects and assisting BAS Technicians with wiring/programming, electrical terminations, commissioning, graphic development, test and startup. The role requires the capability to work with minimal supervision as well as the ability to advise and guide other engineers. Maintaining customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, communication with staff, and providing customer feedback and solutions is also a key aspect of this position.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, or other related areas; or three (3) plus years of experience in the HVAC industry performing project management or estimating roles; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Familiarity with operation and design of HVAC Systems, Building Automation Systems, and/or Temperature Controls required.
  • Windows operating system and Microsoft Office product knowledge.
  • Experience with a drafting/ design program is required.

  • Familiarity with the concepts of new construction and renovation/retrofit, performance contracting, and service project management preferred.
  • Understanding of industry standard protocol and requirements for integration preferred.

Responsibilities
