About The Position

Carlex is seeking a Controls Process Tech for the 1st shift. This role offers growth and opportunity within the company. The position involves understanding and following work instructions and control plans, maintaining an organized and clean work environment, and contributing to the plant's safety initiatives. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and programming PLCs, understanding motors and drives, basic robotics programming and troubleshooting, and working with PCs and HMIs. The role also involves assisting Automation/Process Engineers with development, installation, and programming of line upgrades and installations. The ideal candidate will understand required PPE, lockouts, and e-stops, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent organizational and communication skills. Demonstrating excellent attendance, attitude, and decision-making skills, along with being a self-starter capable of working independently or as part of a team, are essential.

Requirements

  • AAS Degree with an Automation emphasis preferred
  • Must be willing to enroll and complete established on-site or off-site training when offered
  • Ability to Work All Shifts
  • Valid driver’s license required for business travel
  • Regular and predictable attendance required

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of experience in controls, electrical, or maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow work instructions and control plans
  • Maintain an organized clean work environment and positively impact on the plant’s safety initiatives
  • PLC Ladder Logic Troubleshooting, Hardware Troubleshooting, Programming, Analog Inputs & Outputs, Scan Time Functional Block Diagrams, Ethernet
  • Motors & Drives- basic understanding of AC & DC Motors & Drives
  • Robotics- Basic Programming, Teach Paths, I/O & Interfacing, Troubleshooting
  • PC’s- Operating Systems, Hardware, Drivers & Networking
  • HMI’s- Understanding of Basic Concepts, Troubleshooting, Interfacing
  • Assist Automation/Process Engineers with development, installation and programming of line upgrades and line installations
  • Understands required PPE, location and purpose of all lockouts and e-stops
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to set priorities and goals
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance, attitude, and decision-making skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Cooperate within teams to carry out tasks and responsibilities
  • Overtime may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays
  • Basic skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysis
