About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support electrical design, automation upgrades, installation, and commissioning of mechanical and hydraulic power stamping presses and related manufacturing equipment. This position is ideal for a hands-on controls professional with strong PLC programming, electrical design, troubleshooting, and equipment commissioning experience. The engineer will work closely with engineering, electrical, mechanical, and construction teams throughout equipment upgrades and installations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, technician degree, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • PLC programming experience – required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Electrical hardware design and modification experience.
  • Experience with industrial equipment demolition, installation, and commissioning.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to travel and work in Canada and Mexico.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays when project schedules require it.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, troubleshoot, and validate PLC programs for manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
  • Program and support PLC platforms including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Yaskawa, and Toyopuc.
  • Develop and modify HMI programs using GP-Pro software on Pro-face hardware.
  • Develop and modify Safety PLC programs.
  • Create and modify electrical hardware layouts, panel layouts, and field device layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Perform project risk assessments related to equipment selection, hardware procurement, and installation schedules.
  • Support and supervise equipment installation activities involving engineers, electricians, and millwrights.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, controls, mechanical, and construction-related issues during installation.
  • Provide full-line commissioning support before, during, and after press upgrade projects.
  • Participate in equipment reviews and customer buyoffs.
