About The Position

The position is multifaceted and requires many different skill sets. Candidate will be assigned primarily to the maintenance and repair of CNC machines as it relates to start-up, debugging and testing, as well as daily production activities of CNC controlled machine tools and the wiring and assembly of electrical control systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Relevant training or certification courses in maintenance, engineering technology, programing, or other related field
  • Works in a fast-paced environment under minimum supervision.
  • Routine responsibilities and duties involve the use of various procedures and the application of clearly prescribed standards of practice, requiring the use of good judgment.
  • Must work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • The job works in conditions with frequent exposure to loud noise, heavy lifting, heavy overhead lifting, heavy machinery and sharp tools.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Standing 70% -80% of the time; walking
  • Bending, crouching, twisting and reaching required
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate (written and oral) at all levels within and outside the plant.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Must have the ability to read prints, comprehend technical maintenance manuals, drawings, and specifications.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, holidays, and weekends as required and be available to be “on call” as necessary.
  • Ability to read prints and technical manuals.
  • Ability to update technical manuals and programs for automated equipment.
  • Ability to read and write G-Code programming (Fanuc and Siemens)
  • Advanced understanding of Machine Tool operations and diagnostics
  • Proven capabilities in the use of measuring instruments including MEG and Ohm meters, multi-meters (current, voltage, resistance measurements), calipers, indicators, O-scopes and micrometers.
  • Ability to effectively diagnose machine malfunctions and concisely communicate detailed root cause(s) of malfunctions to management both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to serve in whatever capacity deemed necessary by Supervisor.
  • Ability to perform basic wiring, soldering and use of all hand tools.
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical equipment in a heavy industrial setting
  • Ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance while working alone or in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic, illustrations and piping diagrams
  • Ability to research parts, drawings, diagrams and schematics.
  • Advanced PLC troubleshooting and programming experience
  • Effective communications stills are required

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance preferred but not required
  • Background in casting / hot metal processing industry as well as extensive experience in machine tool / CNC machining facilities.
  • Provide technical expertise to support maintenance department and serve in capacities appointed by Manager / Supervisor.
  • Personal Computer (PC) skills are desired
  • CNC/NC machine tool experience is a plus
  • Machine rebuild, HVAC, welding, cutting, and fitting experience is a plus
  • Machine leveling, alignment, and installation is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Advanced technical background to perform equipment failure analysis, repair and implementation of preventative measures.
  • Develop and implements cost reduction improvement projects that avoid or reduce machine downtime.
  • Powering up (CNC, Servo and PLC/PMC systems) troubleshooting, debugging and testing equipment to the degree necessary to verify the machinery is capable of meeting machine performance requirements.
  • Ladder logic, ability to read and understand pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical schematics and have an advanced understanding of CNC machinery and the maintenance / setup of CNC machinery.
  • Work independently and in a team atmosphere and must be capable of working safely by following policies and procedures of an industrial environment.
  • Follow proper PM procedures while working on equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, control panels, cable harness, and interconnection wiring from drawings.
  • Must understand applicable codes and standards.
  • Electrical and mechanical aptitude is required to understand electro-servo-mechanical assemblies and design / function of mechanical, electrical and fluid systems.
  • Troubleshoots and works on PLC systems and controls, changing ball screws, drives, drive motors, clutches, ways, pumps, hydraulics and spindle bearings.
  • This individual must have a “Can-do” attitude with ability to multi-task and quickly prioritize in a time sensitive and fast paced work environment as they work with engineering to support production.
