Sustainability is not just how we do business; it is our business. This role is field-based, meaning work is conducted on-site at customer locations. The Controls Installation Field Technician will be responsible for the installation of building automation systems, using a variety of hand tools and interpreting control drawings, plans, and specifications to install temperature control systems including conduit, enclosures, wiring, and end devices. The technician will prepare for on-site installation by examining building layouts, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work with other trades. They will maintain an assigned stock of inventory and company equipment, document all related activities, and complete paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration, in a timely manner. This role also involves representing the company as the direct customer contact, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing equipment and systems at the customer’s location. The technician will stay current on Trane products related to direct digital control systems, inspect and maintain company vehicles, and maintain tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear. Continuous enforcement of safety standards and accountability for company assets are also key responsibilities. Regular travel is required, with occasional overnight stays and flexibility to work overtime as the business requires.
