About The Position

Benchmark Automation & Controls is looking for a skilled HVAC professional with 5+ years of experience who is ready to make the transition into the exciting world of Building Automation and Controls (BAS). This is a great opportunity for an experienced HVAC technician who understands mechanical systems and wants to develop expertise in controls, automation, and smart building technology.

Requirements

• 5+ years of HVAC service or installation experience
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, including air handlers, rooftop units, VAVs, chillers, boilers, and related equipment
• Experience troubleshooting electrical components, sensors, thermostats, and HVAC equipment
• Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Willingness and desire to learn building automation and controls technology
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset

Nice To Haves

• Experience with HVAC controls, BAS, or automation systems
• Electrical background or experience troubleshooting low-voltage systems
• Familiarity with HVAC sequences of operation
• Experience with brands such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, Carrier, or similar systems

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and service building automation and HVAC control systems
• Apply your HVAC knowledge to diagnose issues between mechanical equipment and control systems
• Assist with programming, calibration, and commissioning of BAS systems
• Read and interpret HVAC drawings, schematics, and control sequences
• Work with customers, project teams, and technicians to resolve system issues
• Perform point-to-point testing, startup, and system verification
• Learn industry-leading BAS technologies through hands-on experience and training
