About The Position

As a Controls Technician, you will play a key role in supporting Carrier’s service operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and commissioning DDC control systems integrated with HVAC equipment. This position provides a foundational entry point into the controls field, where you will build your technical expertise through hands‑on work with control systems, software, and field devices. You will begin by performing routine troubleshooting and service tasks, with assignments increasing in complexity as your skills grow. What you will do Controls technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of DDC controls systems applied to HVAC systems. Responsibilities include installing, calibrating, testing, troubleshooting, verifying communication between controllers. Maintain electronic components installed in the field as well as any Carrier software and graphics. Technician will be responsible for uploading any software or software upgrades to frontend PC’s id required to keep the system updated. Technician may be required to provide customer basic training on operating and navigating the Carrier Building Automation System. Technician will need to be able to work under limited supervision for routine service situations. Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines. Role Purpose Adheres to all CCS and customer safety standards. Promotes safety awareness on work sites. Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the facility. Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction. Meets regularly with customers representative to become familiar with operation of customer facility. Keeps customer informed of the nature of service we are onsite to perform. Communicates outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and/or repairs. Is observant of additional opportunities we may have to solve issues. Works with service account manager to engineer and estimate solutions. Performs system maintenance in accordance with established service practices and direction including field controllers, servers and workstations and field hardware. Maintains feedback of equipment scheduling and modifications needed to service account manager. Commissioning/Start-up of controls systems, Test project programs to ensure specified sequences of operation are met and perform accordingly to customer and industry standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate degree, or Technical School in HVAC field
  • 4+ years’ experience in the HVAC controls industry.
  • Possess and maintain valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Ability to travel in order to support local area with potential of overnight hotel stays, unexpected travel as well as participate in rotating on call schedule.
  • Must be able to stand, crawl, sit, squat of extended period of time, climb a ladder, and the ability to lift equipment 8 ft above grade
  • Ability to Push / Pull / Lift 50lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of building automation controls
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience using Salesforce and ServiceMax is a plus
