Position Summary: Hatch is seeking a Controls Engineering Trainee to join our Technologies Group. In this role, you will support projects globally working from our Mississauga Head Office. Our group is comprised of Engineers from many disciplines, who work together to develop solutions to enhance technologies such as electric arc furnace control, novel instrumentation, coating mass controllers, power stabilization systems and microgrid controllers.

Requirements

  • Must be a recent graduate of a Bachelor of Engineering or Applied Science degree from an accredited university in the controls, electrical, mechatronics (or related) discipline.
  • Academic courses should include Control Systems, Programming and Electric Circuits.
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
  • Must have proven skills with MATLAB and MS Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, R, Python, LabView, PLC programming and other real-time controllers an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Control and automation software development – including design, programming and commissioning equipment at the client’s site.
  • P&ID development.
  • Data and system analysis to diagnose limitations and identify improvements.
  • Working with vendors and clients to ensure a positive outcome.
  • Research and development of new technologies to help our clients meet their challenges.
