The Controls Engineer is responsible for creating, documenting, developing, supporting, and improving upon the control systems essential to production processes. Involvement spans from initial project sourcing through SOP +90 days, or as required for corporate or plant employees. This role supports the implementation of engineering changes for current production products, providing controls expertise for tooling design and automation for new projects and process changes. Additionally, the engineer is responsible for transferring all equipment and process documentation to the Production Plant prior to SOP, including OEM documentation. They will participate in the development of RFQs and Equipment Specifications, program torque control systems, and select error-proofing devices. The role also supports Engineering Cost Estimators by providing assumptions for assembly process requirements, capital/tooling investments, and labor. Guidance is provided for design goals, process, and equipment specifications for Controls and Electrical power distribution systems.
