About The Position

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the overall lead for controls engineering for HVAC Final Assembly. This role provides daily production support across HVAC Final Assembly, develops kaizen activities driven by Safety, Quality, and Productivity, and manages equipment/machine procurement. The position involves project management, including schedule development and budget tracking, and supporting company and departmental goals. Key responsibilities include equipment specification, justification, installation, testing, buyoff, and process validation. The engineer will lead planning and equipment/machine install events, support training, line-off, and document buy-off conditions, considering ergonomics, safety, and spare parts. They will provide regular updates to management on key projects, understand machine operation to suggest improvements, and facilitate communication between support departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Technical degree and 4 years of controls experience or 8 years of controls experience.
  • Experience programming PLC’s, Safety PLC’s and HMI's (Prefer AB, Omron brands)
  • Experience with hardware and safety circuit design for automated machines
  • Highly motivated and technically competent, innovative problem-solver that incorporates the plan, do, check, action methods.
  • Excellent self-management and project management skills (ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and effectively use data to drive decision making.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate, prioritize, and multitask.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (TAC group companies, DMTN, DNJP, etc.).
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience related to manufacturing and assembly processes, prefer HVAC assembly experience, but not required.
  • A proactive person who will seek out and implement additional tasks that will add value to DMMI.
  • Knowledge of electrical sensors, vision and other machine sensing systems
  • Industrial robotics programming (Denso, ABB, or Fanuc brands)
  • Integrating and programming servo drives (AB or Yaskawa)
  • C++, Visual Basic, SQL database or other programming languages
  • Experience with Ethernet networking such as IP configuration, Managed Switches, NAT, Network configuration and Troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Overall lead for controls engineering for HVAC Final Assembly.
  • Daily production support for across HVAC Final Assembly.
  • Develop kaizen activities driven by Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
  • Equipment/machine procurement for HVAC assembly.
  • Project management (schedule development and budget tracking).
  • Support company and departmental G&O’s (safety, quality, efficiency, cost reduction, environmental and delivery).
  • Equipment specification, justification, installation, testing, buyoff, process validation & capability.
  • Lead planning and equipment/machine install events, support equipment training, line-off, and document buy-off condition incorporating ergo, safety and spare parts.
  • Provide regular updates to management on key projects.
  • Understand machine operation and make suggestions to improve machine operation ratios, net operator time and product flow.
  • Communication between support departments for open items. (Design, Quality, Production Control, Production, Business Planning, Purchasing, etc.).
