About The Position

Plasman is seeking a Controls Engineer for a 15-month contract position. This role is responsible for repairing equipment efficiently to reduce downtime. The Controls Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain control systems and programs to ensure manufacturing efficiency, design and program PLC systems to optimize production processes, and assist in troubleshooting equipment and control system issues. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting system evaluations, integrating new technologies, and documenting control specifications. Ensuring awareness of quality and business operating systems (ISO/IATF) is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in an electrical, mechanical or related field; a combination of education, training and years working experience will be considered.
  • Skilled trade ticket in a provincially or federally recognized trade program is required
  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems is essential.
  • Minimum 2 years related working experience, preferrably within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to facilitate collaboration across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with various automation software and hardware systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain control systems and programs to ensure manufacturing efficiency.
  • Design and program PLC systems to optimize production processes.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and control system issues to minimize downtime; repair and maintain systems with respect to electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and general repair maintenance wwithin specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production improvements and innovations.
  • Conduct regular system evaluations and maintenance to ensure continued process effectiveness.
  • Integrate new technologies to enhance existing manufacturing processes.
  • Document control specifications, system configurations, and comprehensive maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure a personal and associate awareness of all quality and business related operating systems (ISO/IATF).
