About The Position

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Controls Engineer for its Research and Advanced Engineering team in Dearborn, Michigan. This is a hybrid position requiring the employee to work both from home and on-site, necessitating a reasonable commuting distance to the worksite. The role involves defining and implementing HIL simulator interfaces to electronic control units and subsystem sensor and actuator hardware. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, validating, and documenting Matlab/Simulink simulation models for interfacing with HIL system hardware and communication networks, as well as creating and executing HIL test plans for validating Control System software and hardware. The engineer will also be responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing test data, and generating test reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 3 years of experience with commissioning and utilizing hardware in the loop systems with Electronics Lab Equipment including volt meters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • 3 years of experience using Matlab and Simulink for control system simulation.
  • 2 years of experience using dSPACE ControlDesk and ConfigurationDesk for HIL system configuration and testing.
  • 2 years of experience in creation of test plans and automation of test scripts for verification of embedded software with Python, Matlab, and ECU-Test.
  • 2 years of experience using automotive multiplex network tools CANoe, CANalyzer, or Vehicle Spy for analyzing and verifying network performance.
  • 2 years of experience programming in a high-level language: C, C++, Python, or Matlab.
  • 1 year of experience using software version control and process automation tools GitHub and Jenkins.

Responsibilities

  • Defining and implementing HIL simulator interfaces to electronic control units and subsystem sensor and actuator hardware.
  • Designing, implementing, validating, and documenting Matlab/Simulink simulation models for interfacing to HIL system hardware and communication networks.
  • Creating and executing HIL test plans for validation of Control System software and hardware.
