About The Position

Terex Utilities is a global leader in manufacturing aerial devices and digger derricks for the electric utility industry. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Watertown, SD for an Electrical and Software Control Engineer specializing in Real-Time Control Systems. In this role, you will design and implement electrical and software control systems, develop and test software for real-time applications, and integrate electrical components and systems for utility equipment. Responsibilities will also include troubleshooting and debugging system issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the development of innovative, reliable solutions. This position will provide support for new product development surrounding unit controls, troubleshooting and current product maintenance. This person is required to become a subject matter expert around our current and new control and hydraulic systems.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Electrical Engineering and Electrical Design
  • 3 Plus years’ Experience in Software Development and Software Design
  • Strong understanding of electrical/electronic components and its application in control systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex systems
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with real-time control systems or utility equipment is a plus
  • Experience with Danfoss Plus+1 software is a plus
  • Experience with Codesys software is a plus
  • Knowledge of industry standards and safety practices relevant to the utility sector
