About The Position

This role is for an individual who can analyze systems, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance performance. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, and troubleshooting control systems to ensure continuous production, efficiency, and optimal plant performance. Key responsibilities include PLC programming, diagnosing system issues, and directly impacting system uptime and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in controls or industrial automation
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI, and SCADA systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills—you can diagnose and fix issues without hand-holding
  • Understanding of control systems (PID, process control, etc.)
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and system drawings
  • Experience with platforms like Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or ABB

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced controls (MPC, DCS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, OPC)
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Experience with CAD for panel design

Responsibilities

  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
  • Identify issues in automated systems and fix them fast
  • Analyze process data to improve performance and reduce downtime
  • Work with maintenance and production teams to solve real-time problems
  • Support system upgrades, installs, and commissioning
  • Maintain and update system documentation
  • Ensure systems meet safety and quality standards
  • Help improve processes and drive continuous improvement projects
