About The Position

Tommy’s is looking for a Controls Engineer to develop new technologies, drive product enhancement, design hardware and software platforms for process control, communication, documentation, and other systems critical to our high-capacity wash processes. Team members will also play a role in support and fulfillment of the wash site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in electrical and/or industrial control software engineering
  • Experience in writing and developing ladder logic, structured text and function block diagram programs for industrial control systems
  • 2+ years of professional work experience
  • Experience implementing, testing, and configuring industrial sensors and actuators.
  • Process-oriented and strong collaborator with ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and across various departments
  • Highly adaptable with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
  • Views customer care as high priority; exhibits a positive can-do attitude
  • Displays a strong initiative and drive to identify gaps and fill them

Nice To Haves

  • Car wash industry experience preferred
  • Experience in CODESYS, Ignition, Machine Expert, Control Expert software programs
  • Experience in Modbus, Ethernet IP, and IO link communications preferred
  • Experience in CSS, Docker, Linux, and Python preferred but not required
  • Schneider Electric Altivar series variable frequency drives.

Responsibilities

  • Program car wash controls system to support wash operations with appropriate timing, equipment operation and sensing of critical parameters while maintaining the safety of the wash
  • Establish, document, and maintain controls system standards including default settings, configuration profiles, startup procedures and troubleshooting guides
  • Test, validate, and document product performance
  • Create documentation checklists, issue communication and quality related support bulletins
