About The Position

This role supports production by troubleshooting and programming existing and new plant automation equipment. The Controls Engineer will program and design new and existing PLC controls, and may travel to sister plants as needed. This position requires maintaining accurate and consistent schedules for projects and tasks across multiple plant projects. Responsibilities include programming robots, optimizing line flow, cycle times, and quality concerns through programming changes or troubleshooting controls. The engineer will also help plan preventative maintenance, develop new technology to improve cycle times and quality detection/prevention systems, train plant technicians and engineers on controls-related skills, create and correct plant electrical drawings, and work with plant teams to develop accurate quoting models.

Requirements

  • BSEE or BSME Degree required
  • 3 – 5 Years of experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and Robots
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • High level of understanding of Fanuc Robots and ABB robot operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of Ethernet cabling and addressing, Device Net, RIO, and wireless PC networking
  • Understanding of basic concepts of MMIs, familiar with PanelView Plus and PanelView hardware
  • Demonstrated understanding of Cognex In-Sight software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ladder logic programming, PLC 5, SLC500, ControlLogix, MicroLogix, RIO, Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet
  • Demonstrated understanding of AC and DC motors and servo systems
  • Working knowledge of Kinetix, Ultra3000, PowerFlex, 1305 and 1338 drives
  • Valid driver’s license required for business travel
  • Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent Analytical Skills
  • Ability to use RS Net Worx software, RS View Studio and Panel Builder software
  • Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting and read electrical prints
  • Ability to wire industrial control systems including 480V/120V/24V power, drives, motors, I/O and sensors
  • Ability to design, diagnose, and troubleshoot vision applications
  • Ability to connect to PLC and navigate programming software
  • Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysis

  • 1-3 Years of Siemens S7 programming experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support production by troubleshooting and programming existing and new plant automation equipment

  • Programming of robots and touching up points as needed to support production needs
  • Working with production and process to optimize line flow, cycle time issues and quality concerns through changes in programming or troubleshooting of controls
  • Help plan preventative maintenance plans for equipment in the plant both new and current
  • Work to help develop new technology for the plant to utilize in efforts to improve cycle times and quality detection / prevention systems
  • Help train plant techs and engineers on controls related skills
  • Create and correct plant electrical drawings for equipment
  • Work with plant teams to help develop accurate quoting models
