About The Position

The Role: We are currently hiring for 2nd/3rd shift. As the Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for operations, maintenance and repair of plant equipment. Work requires the ability to make decisions based on established procedures. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). This role requires the use of independent judgement and may involve training others. This position will require you to have the ability to work 2nd/3rd shift and overtime.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience
  • Ability to work 2nd/3rd shift and overtime (possibility to rotate between 2nd and 3rd, but must be able to work either)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Controls Engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent work experience (4 years)
  • Proficiency in industrial networking protocols – DH+, RIO, Device net. TCP/IP and EthernetIP
  • HMI software – Siemens WinCC and TIA Portal and Rockwell Factory Talk. Panelbuilder for Panelview Applications
  • PLC hardware – Rockwell ControlLogix family. PLC 5 / PLC 500 / Control Logix / Guard Logix
  • Servo drive systems – Kinetix 6000 Drives
  • VFD – Armor Starts and PF70 / PF755 Applications

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of Controls Engineering experience
  • 3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Body Shop experience
  • Master’s degree in engineering
  • Fanuc Robotics – programming and troubleshooting
  • ABB S3 & S4 Robotics – programming and troubleshooting
  • Vision Systems – programming and troubleshooting

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical problems in manufacturing
  • Complete engineering projects related to electrical controls and programming
  • Work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision
  • Be a technical resource for plant electricians
  • Supervise project installations by contractors and plant electricians
  • Develop and plan Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Design and modify electrical control circuits and programs
  • Support plant continuous improvement activity
  • Recommendations for solutions to problems
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance and diagnosis of equipment malfunctions
  • Meets schedule and quality requirements
  • Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreement
  • Implement divisional and corporate policies and safety and good housekeeping practices
  • Maintain frequent contact and collaboration in other areas outside of working group
  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment
  • Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
