About The Position

Forvia, a sustainable mobility technology leader, is seeking a Controls Engineer. This role involves supporting new and current automation projects, working on shop floor tasks such as mechanical tooling, robot programming, electrical troubleshooting, cycle time improvements, and machine debugging. The engineer will collaborate with the Maintenance department on preventive maintenance for automation cells and lead minor automation upgrades. Additionally, they will interface with the Automation team in FIS BG, share best practices, and follow up on technical files, design studies, startup testing, and maintenance readiness for automatic functions integrated by suppliers. The role also emphasizes proactive technical competency development, coaching process technicians, minimizing equipment downtime, and continuous improvement actions to enhance overall production system efficiency. The position also requires adherence to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) commitments, including ISO 14001 Environmental Policy and Management System procedures, and supporting environmental programs. The engineer is expected to follow company values, act with an entrepreneurial mindset, autonomy, and accountability, and adhere to the Code of Ethics and Code of Management.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical knowledge of tooling (EOAT, Sonics, Bowl feeders, Slides, Sensors, etc.)
  • Electrical schematic
  • Robot programming (Fanuc, ABB,Kuka, UR)
  • Camera verification software (Cognex, Keyence, Sick, etc.)
  • Able to coach and share personal knowledge to others
  • Understanding of Automotive Interior processes and technologies is a plus
  • Good technical skills on product and process
  • Strong communication skills
  • International mindset
  • Proficient level of English required
  • Bachelor’s or Technician degree in Engineering or similar (preferred)
  • More than 3 years of experience with automation in Manufacturing Engineering department or automation design or robot programming

Responsibilities

  • Support new and current automation projects in Fraser.
  • Work on shop floor for programs supporting Mechanical tooling, Robot programming, Electrical troubleshooting, Cycle time improvements, and Machine debugging.
  • Work with the Maintenance department to develop Preventive Maintenance for automation cells, and lead techs to perform these tasks.
  • Lead minor automation upgrades to serial programs with focus on reducing non-ergo friendly operations, reducing MOD, etc.
  • Interface with the Automation team in FIS BG, sharing best practices, aligning deployments of new systems.
  • Autonomously carry out the follow up of the technical files, design studies, startup testing, and maintenance readiness of the automatic functions integrated by suppliers in the production equipment.
  • Pro-active behavior for the acquisition, the development, and the sharing of technical competencies.
  • Coach and lead process techs.
  • Minimize equipment downtime and perform continues improvement actions to improve TRS on overall production system.
  • Support commitments established in the ISO 14001 Environmental Policy.
  • Conform to requirements established in Fraser Plant ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure members in assigned area(s) of responsibility conform to relevant EMS requirements.
  • Support environmental programs to achieve objectives and targets.
  • Follow values established within Being Faurecia. Act with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as with autonomy and accountability.
