About The Position

HL Mando America Corporation is seeking a Controls Engineer in Auburn, MI. This role involves modeling system and sub-system dynamics, creating robust control designs, and developing algorithms. The engineer will make high-level trade-offs to optimize system architecture, translate vehicle-level requirements into system requirements, and allocate subsystems and components accordingly. Responsibilities include improving and rectifying issues with vehicle control systems, developing next-generation vehicle control systems, and creating algorithms for safe operation and protection of drive systems. The role also involves developing diagnostics and protection mechanisms, defining requirements for system components like position and current sensors, and developing new control algorithms as needed. Performing stability analysis for various vehicle operating modes and collaborating with customers to ensure stable and safe system operations are key aspects. The engineer will also help identify solutions to encountered problems, work with MDK for integrating system-level algorithms, and report to a Senior Engineer.

Requirements

  • Master’s or foreign equivalent degree in Control Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • Presenting to external customers using PowerPoint.
  • Performing linear system analysis, EPS stability analysis, behavioral model analysis, algorithm transient and dynamic analysis, and software in loop development using Matlab and Simulink.
  • Modeling systems and sub-system dynamics, and creating robust control designs.
  • Designing and developing algorithms for steer by wire systems, force estimation, and EPS Value added functions.
  • Working with Vehicle Dynamics and modelling for electric power steering, electric brakes dynamic control, and ABS dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Model systems and sub-system dynamics and create robust controls designs.
  • Design and develop algorithms.
  • Make high level trade-offs to optimize system architecture.
  • Translate vehicle level requirements, objective and subjective, into system requirements.
  • Generate subsystem and component allocations to meet system level requirements.
  • Improve and rectify issues with the vehicle control systems.
  • Develop next generation vehicle control systems.
  • Develop algorithms for safe operation and protection of drive systems.
  • Develop diagnostics and protection mechanisms.
  • Develop requirements for system components, including position sensors and current sensors.
  • Develop new control algorithms as needed.
  • Perform stability analysis to ensure various operating modes of the vehicle.
  • Work with customers to ensure stable and safe system operations.
  • Help in identifying solutions to the problems encountered.
  • Work with MDK for integrating the system level algorithms.
  • Work under the direction of a Senior Engineer.
