About The Position

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Controls Engineer at our Farmington Hills, Michigan location. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain instrumentation and control systems that support safe, efficient, high-quality manufacturing. You will work hands-on with PLCs, HMIs, and embedded control applications while troubleshooting and improving automation systems.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in control systems engineering, PLC programming, HMI development, and automation.
  • Experience with control systems, Allen-Bradley PLC troubleshooting, HMI development, and embedded systems.
  • Strong critical-thinking and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in technical work and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automation systems for manufacturing and related processes using control systems, instrumentation, and automation technologies.
  • Develop and modify PLC, HMI, and embedded control applications and interfaces to meet operational requirements.
  • Support the setup and commissioning of new facilities and upgrades to existing control systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve control system malfunctions.
  • Recommend control system improvements that enhance efficiency, reliability, and quality.
  • Create and maintain detailed specifications, system configurations, operational procedures, and other technical documentation.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to support effective deployment and operation of control systems.
