Controls Engineer, Robotics

FluidstackAustin, TX
$197,000 - $227,000Onsite

About The Position

Fluidstack is building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI, focusing on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else. This involves rethinking every layer of the stack, from acquiring power and designing data centers to operating them with integrated hardware and software teams. Speed and scale are key differentiators. The company is looking for individuals who care deeply about this mission and are driven by extreme ownership, velocity, first principles thinking, and a passion for the frontier of AI. This role involves engineering controls for robotics within the data center, focusing on motion, safety, and integration with facility systems. The engineer will own the robot control stack integration, including fleet management, task dispatch, and telemetry into the platform. A critical aspect of the role is designing the safety architecture, encompassing zones, interlocks, and functional safety for robots operating in proximity to people and plant infrastructure. The position also requires commissioning robotic systems at sites and ensuring they meet availability targets.

Requirements

  • Engineered controls for robotic or automated systems in production.
  • Implemented functional safety around robots: risk assessments and safety PLCs.
  • Integrated robot fleets with external systems.
  • Commission on-site and debug across mechanical, electrical, and software.
  • Hold availability numbers, not demos.

Nice To Haves

  • ROS or fleet managers.
  • AMR platforms.
  • Robot safety standards (ISO 10218, ISO 3691-4).
  • Data center environments.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer controls for robotics in the data center: motion, safety, and integration with facility systems.
  • Own the robot control stack integration: fleet management, task dispatch, and telemetry into the platform.
  • Design the safety architecture: zones, interlocks, and functional safety for robots working among people and plant.
  • Commission robotic systems at sites and hold them to availability targets.

Benefits

  • Commitment to pay equity and transparency.
