About The Position

Alliance Machine Systems International, LLC is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer IV to design, develop, and oversee all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. This high-impact position involves R&D projects and developing solutions for unique product needs within an OEM environment. The role also includes the installation and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software. A collaborative team environment is expected, with no direct reports. Knowledge and experience with Rockwell or Siemens PLC and HMI platforms are required, and Fanuc robotics experience is desired.

Requirements

  • BSEE, BSCE, or BSME degree (or higher) and appropriate job-related continuing education.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience within an OEM manufacturing environment
  • PLC and HMI platforms – Siemens required but experience with Allan Bradley may be considered
  • VFD knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of controls engineering and a broad working knowledge of mechanical engineering

  • Motion control is desired
  • Experience with robot controllers is desired
  • Fanuc robotics experience is desired

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex electrical engineering and functional controls system architecture and specifications with input from sales personnel, customers, service technicians, assembly technicians.
  • Perform, plan, and schedule control systems development, including both hardware and software systems, for new/existing machines, options or configurations.
  • Develop machine functional specifications in conjunction with Product Management and Marketing.
  • Develop conceptual designs and recurring cost estimates.
  • Prepare machine development/project plan, work breakdown structure, and schedule/update.
  • Design, perform, and lead proof-of-technology tests; analyze and correlate data; prepare reports and make recommendations.
  • Lead and/or perform machine/process risk assessments.
  • Lead and perform Unified Modeling Language (UML) software design practices.
  • Lead detailed engineering tasks including circuit analysis, panel layout, schematic generation, BOM development, etc. Ensure that documentation is clear, complete, accurate and compliant with company standards.
  • Develop and test PLC and HMI code, as described by UML guidelines.
  • Install PLC and HMI code and test machines at our production facility prior to shipment.
  • Develop written test plans to validate equipment design. Perform tests, analyze results, prepare written test reports, and make engineering recommendations, as appropriate.
  • Act as a liaison to production assembly, service and system suppliers and furnish documentation and/or assist in the check-out, machine installation and startup of complex mechanical functionality and control system software.
  • Assist with machine installation, commissioning, field troubleshooting, and customer training, as required.
  • Perform other duties/responsibilities as required.
