AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This team supports all AWS data centers and the associated equipment, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling. The role involves tackling complex challenges within the supply chain and requires talented individuals to help manage these operations. The team is diverse, comprising software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collaboration across AWS is key to maintaining high standards of safety and security while delivering immense capacity at the lowest possible cost. As a member of the global controls team, you will collaborate with experts and innovators in the data center industry. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting, project management, and maintenance of the Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS). Applying Amazon leadership principles, you will develop new processes and standards and drive innovation in controls. AWS data centers utilize numerous components such as generators, uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled), pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, and air economizers. These components have local control systems that communicate via open and/or proprietary protocols. The BMS is central to controlling mechanical systems, while the EPMS monitors electrical systems within a data center.
