About The Position

Haakon Industries is seeking a Controls Electrician (EL01 Journeyman) to support the build, wiring, testing, and commissioning of custom HVAC equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role is heavily focused on electrical controls, including low voltage systems, sensors, relays, and control components. The position requires precision, troubleshooting ability, and a strong understanding of how electrical systems function together. This is not repetitive production wiring; each unit is custom-built and may require troubleshooting controls issues. The work is hands-on, detailed, and requires focus and ownership.

Requirements

  • EL01 Journeyman Electrician (required)
  • Experience in electrical controls and low voltage systems
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and line diagrams
  • Strong understanding of multiple voltage systems, wiring methods, and testing practices
  • Experience with relays, transformers, and sensors
  • Conduit bending and working knowledge of electrical code
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role safely
  • Must follow all company safety policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • VFD programming and troubleshooting
  • Experience with ETL or similar inspection standards
  • 5+ years of journeyman experience

Responsibilities

  • Wire and assemble electrical control systems for custom-built equipment
  • Work with low voltage systems including relays, transformers, temperature and speed sensors
  • Read and interpret wiring schematics and line diagrams
  • Perform electrical testing and verification using QC checklists and ETL requirements
  • Conduct airflow testing and system validation
  • Program and troubleshoot VFDs
  • Bend conduit and install components to code
  • Troubleshoot wiring and control issues during build and testing
  • Support final inspection and ETL labeling processes
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Work independently and collaborating with the team
