Position Summary: The Electrical & Controls Engineering Manager is responsible for leading MAS HVAC's Electrical Engineering and Controls Engineering functions. This role provides strategic and technical leadership for the design, development, standardization, and support of electrical and controls systems across all product lines. The manager is responsible for department performance, engineering standards, technical governance, team development, and cross-functional alignment. This position ensures electrical and controls solutions meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, reliability expectations, and business objectives while supporting both current operations and future product development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial controls, automation systems, and electrical power distribution.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, communication protocols, and integrated control systems.
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and complex technical projects.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Experience in HVAC, liquid cooling, mission-critical infrastructure, or custom equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), data center cooling, or industrial automation.
  • Knowledge of UL, ETL, CSA, and related certification processes.
  • Experience leading NPD and technology development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop Electrical Engineers and Controls Engineers.
  • Establish department goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Conduct performance reviews, development planning, and succession planning.
  • Drive hiring, workforce planning, and organizational growth.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, design practices, and technical guidelines.
  • Provide technical oversight for electrical systems, control architectures, communication networks, and automation strategies.
  • Ensure consistency in engineering deliverables, calculations, documentation, and design methodologies.
  • Review and approve critical technical decisions and engineering solutions.
  • Drive standardization and reuse across product lines.
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) and Advanced Development initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Define long-term electrical and controls technology roadmaps.
  • Serve as the departmental authority for electrical and controls compliance.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and regulations
  • Support certification activities and regulatory audits.
  • Promote electrical safety and risk management practices throughout the organization.
  • Align engineering resources and priorities with business objectives.
  • Remove technical barriers impacting project execution.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex electrical and controls challenges.
  • Support successful product launches and customer deliverables.
  • Drive improvements in engineering efficiency, quality, and execution.
  • Reduce electrical and controls-related errors, rework, and engineering changes.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives.
  • Implement best practices that improve reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
  • Establish metrics and dashboards to monitor departmental performance.
