About The Position

Calspan JETS is the world’s premier supplier of ground-based testing solutions for the aerospace industry. We deliver highly engineered facilities, electro-mechanical systems, and software specifically designed for jet engine testing. These solutions are used by airlines, OEMs, and MRO businesses to ensure the global fleet of jet engines tested daily are safe to fly. The Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) Designer is responsible for the efficient production of detailed electrical, schematic, pneumatic, fabrication, and assembly drawing packages based on engineering inputs for test cells, wind tunnels, and other aerospace ground test facilities. This role supports the design and development of highly engineered systems used in jet engine testing and other aerospace applications. 9/80 work schedule available (every-other Friday off)! Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in electrical technology or related discipline
  • 3+ years of related experience or; A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
  • Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical
  • Experience with ERP based bills of material systems
  • Familiarity with GE, Allen Bradley, and Siemens PLC’s
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 (National Electric Code)
  • Experience with various measurement instruments (pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, limit switches, strain gauges, flow meters, etc.)
  • Able to balance priorities between multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively and productively as an individual contributor and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • 10% international and/or domestic travel
  • US Person
  • Valid passport

Nice To Haves

  • Hands on electrical assembly and installation experience is desired

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineers to design electrical, controls and facility integrated systems.
  • Organize CAD drawings (junction box and other larger assemblies, panel layouts, schematics, cable assemblies, etc.) and bills of material in accordance with company configuration management plan and established procedures.
  • Research and select/specify hardware based on design requirements.
  • Clearly communicate and manage the release of bills of material and drawings outside of engineering. Includes communication of changes due to drawing and bill of material revisions to downstream departments and customers.
  • Interface with procurement, production, and installation teams to resolve issues and concerns discovered during equipment assembly, testing, and commissioning.
  • Perform design duties on schedule and within budget, adhering to quality standards, industry codes, and customer requirements.
  • Perform remote site field installation, checkout, testing, and customer service.
