About The Position

Lear For You is seeking a Controls and Automation Engineer for their Roscommon Plant. This role is responsible for providing controls and welding support in product manufacturing activities, driven by new programs, customer performance and quality concerns, plant optimization, cost reductions, safety, and profitability. The engineer will develop and justify proposals to enhance design, machinery, fixtures, methods, and materials, and support production functions to continually improve safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Four (4) year engineering degree or equivalent technical degree.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in PLC programming/Controls Logix and MIG/Laser welding preferred.
  • Additional experience with Motoman/ABB or Fanuc Robots preferred as well.
  • Entry level should be grounded in tooling and equipment, blueprint reading, CAD and work analyses.
  • Some exposure to capital expenditure justifications, plant layout, industrial automation and direct labor utilization a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Ò or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide lead engineering support on all electrical related processes and programs.
  • Ensure all new and current PLC programs are stored on the network and back-up files are maintained.
  • Provide electrical technical support to assist maintenance with equipment issues.
  • Work with vendors to develop and implement new mistake-proofing methods incorporating the latest technologies in industry.
  • Act as primary liaison between Lear Roscommon and Lear-Corporate, suppliers or customers for the approval and implementation of new program launches, engineering changes, new machines and fixtures and resolution of any engineering issues.
  • Lead and support equipment modifications necessary for process and continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot machines, robotic MIG welders, robotic laser welders and process problems, develop immediate and long-term solutions and coordinate resolution activities.
  • Review all current and new welding standards in order to provide on-site support and compliance.
  • Provide technical support to all weld technicians to maintain equipment uptime, efficiency and productivity.
  • Provide technical support for all assembly line equipment to maintain uptime, efficiency and productivity.
  • Liaison between LPS group and plant for all program updates and upgrades.
  • Work on the plant floor with operators, machines and fixtures to improve manufacturing processes in areas of safety, quality, productivity, throughput, quick change and ergonomics.
  • Train operators and support personnel relative to new panel-view operations.
  • Train support personnel in new programming techniques and PLC applications.
  • Specify concepts, quote machines, equipment and fixture modifications and work with suppliers from concept through final approval.
  • Performs layered audits in a timely manner.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Make recommendations, plans and suggestions that promote continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Follow systems for TS16949 and ISO14001.
