About The Position

Angott Search Group has been retained by a growing, highly regarded Michigan-based community bank to identify a Controller. This opportunity arises due to the planned promotion of the current Controller, reflecting the bank's strong leadership development and internal advancement culture. The Controller will play a key role in overseeing the bank's accounting and financial reporting functions while supporting strategic initiatives across the organization. This position leads a team of five and partners closely with executive leadership on financial operations, planning, and reporting. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Requirements

• 7-10+ years of progressive accounting or auditing experience
• Prior experience within a financial institution required
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Previous Controller experience and/or CPA preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions
• Prepare and review call reports and regulatory filings
• Lead monthly financial close and board reporting packages
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
• Support select IT and system-related initiatives impacting finance and reporting
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to the accounting team
