About The Position

Universal Health Services (UHS), a Fortune 300 corporation and a leading provider of hospital and healthcare services, is seeking a Controller for South Texas Health System - McAllen in McAllen, Texas. McAllen Medical Center, a full-service acute care facility, has a long history of serving the community since 1919 and became part of UHS in 1985. The hospital is recognized for its advanced services, including being the only Certified Primary Stroke Center in Hidalgo County, an accredited Chest Pain Center, the region's designated Advanced Level III Trauma Center, and the only comprehensive transplant center in the Rio Grande Valley. The Controller will support the market by overseeing the finance department, including General Ledger, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Decision Support staff. This role involves ensuring proper utilization and accounting of hospital resources in accordance with corporate and hospital policies. The position will also require active participation and potential oversight of components of the Revenue Cycle and Supply Chain, including the Business Office, Care Management, Health Information Management, Clinical Documentation Improvement, and Materials Management/Supply Chain.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience coordinating and/or supervising acute care hospital/medical center finance staff including: Accounts Payable, Decision Support, General Ledger and Payroll
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Computer hardware/software skills required.
• Completion of training programs, as required.
• Bachelors degree.

Nice To Haves

• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct oversight of the finance department including General Ledger, Payroll, Account's Payable and Decision Support staff.
• Interacting with all Hospital departments ensuring proper utilization and accounting of Hospital capital and operating resources in accordance with Corporate and Hospital financial policies and procedures.
• Active participation and possible oversight for different components of the Revenue Cycle and Supply Chain within the organization including: Business Office, Care Management, Health Information Management, Clinical Documentation Improvement, and Materials Management/Supply Chain.
