Controller (Remote – Flexible Full-Time or Part-Time)

This is a remote position. BooksTime is seeking experienced Controllers who want to continue using their expertise in a flexible, supportive, and fully remote environment. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy working closely with clients, solving accounting challenges, mentoring teams, and serving as a trusted advisor, without the burnout and rigidity of traditional corporate environments. Whether you’re semi-retired, transitioning from public accounting, or simply looking for a healthier long-term balance while continuing to do high-level accounting work, we’d love to connect with you. As a Controller at BooksTime, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor and accounting lead for a portfolio of clients while collaborating with an international bookkeeping team to deliver exceptional financial support and service. Requirements
- Comfortable leading client relationships independently
- Friendly, professional, and an excellent communicator
- Experienced in accounting for multiple small businesses or organizations
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- Adaptable and comfortable learning new technologies
- Comfortable working in a fully remote environment
- Experience with cloud-based accounting systems is required.

Responsibilities
- Lead accounting relationships for a portfolio of clients
- Build trusted advisor relationships with clients
- Review and analyze financial statements
- Serve as a high-level accounting resource for complex issues
- Support and mentor bookkeeping teams
- Collaborate with internal teams on special projects and process initiatives
