About The Position

The Controller is responsible for managing the preparation and review of the financial statements, and related financial analysis, for all companies (wholly or partially owned by ownership) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other regulatory and advisory organizations and to help foster a value-added relationship with all facets of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field
  • 10+ years of direct experience in finance and accounting.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of accounting principles accepted in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Provide current, comprehensive, correct and consistent financial updates, analysis and reporting to executive management.
  • Help guide financial decisions by understanding the current economic landscape to make recommendations.
  • Maintain, analyze and improve financial processes and controls.
  • Key role in helping to achieve the budget by providing analysis and recommendations to the business.
  • Provide input in the development and help execute financial and technology strategies.
  • Encourage innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, challenge the status quo, and support creativity.
  • Manage the operations of financial & managerial accounting, tax and related functions, including training, coaching and supervising.
  • Monitor and ensure financial compliance with GAAP, state, local and federal tax and other compliance and regulatory rules.
  • Refine financial and operational reports to provide insight to the business through variance analysis and other detailed analysis to help guide decision making.
  • Key role in driving efficiency and automation to help scale processes as the business needs.
  • Collaborate and foster a value-added relationship with all facets of the business.
  • Ensure the monthly financial close meets the needs of the business, including comparative reporting and analysis of income statements, balance sheets, cash flows, debt and other obligation schedules, inventory and capital assets.
  • Provide final review and approve accounts payable invoices for payment, as needed, per established approval workflows.
  • Assist and prepare financial information for annual CPA reviewed financial statements with external auditors.
  • Prepare personal financial statements and other information for the bank and estate planning purposes as needed.
  • Support and/or manage the budget and forecast process for all companies and subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate and assist with the preparation of all companies and individual tax returns.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reporting.
  • Oversee the compliance of all county, state and federal filings.
  • Manage the reporting of all capital assets, including the documentation of asset acquisitions and dispositions, tracking and maintenance.
  • Provide leadership and development of team members and direct reports.
  • Participate in regular meetings to both receive and provide information, guidance and support in both directions, up to ownership and executive management as well as down to direct reports and other team members.
