About The Position

We are seeking a strategic, detail-oriented Controller to lead and manage the accounting and financial functions of our dynamic earthworks company. The Controller will play a pivotal role in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
Minimum 7 years of accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting role.
Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel expertise required).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

Direct all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and inventory accounting.
Prepare and present timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections; monitor performance against these benchmarks.
Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations, financial reporting requirements, and internal policies.
Coordinate and manage annual audits, liaising with external auditors and tax advisors.
Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic initiatives and capital investments.
Partner with operations to optimize cost control, inventory management, and profitability.
Analyze pricing models, vendor terms, and purchasing processes for efficiency and cost savings.
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to maintain a high-performance environment.
Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
