About The Position

This person will be responsible for processing the financial activities of the organization to maximize company’s profits and plan for its growth, reporting to the VP of Finance and Accounting. This will include a mix of leadership and hands-on work. The role includes: Analyzing data and advising top executives on ways to use that information to make strategic decisions about the organization’s future. Ensuring strong fiscal and business procedures are in place across the organization and work to continually improve productivity and effectiveness of current cross-team processes. Managing all accounting and finance transactions for Houston. Preparing annual operating budget and periodic forecast updates, working closely with Houston business unit leaders. Tracking of actual performance against those forecasts/budgets on a monthly basis. Ensuring strong fiscal and business procedures are in place across the organization and work to continually improve productivity and effectiveness of current cross-team processes. Oversight responsibility for approval of cash disbursements for Houston. Oversight responsibility for AP and AR team for Houston. Serving as lead resource for accounting as well as operations personnel for questions/support of ERP software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance or accounting required, CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in finance and accounting, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • 2+ years (percentage completion method) of construction accounting experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Knowledge of Oracle JD Edwards preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (strong Microsoft Excel skills are required)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks in a changing environment.
  • Attention to detail, balanced with ability to see the “big picture.”
  • Analytical skills
