About The Position

JP Morgan Natural Capital is a leading global investment manager focused on forestland. We are widely recognized as an authority on both forest management and timberland investing. As part of the Alternatives platform within JP Morgan Asset Management, JP Morgan Natural Capital is a leading global investment manager focused on forestland. We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Controller to oversee the development of the daily accounting and financial reporting functions, while coordinating with professional service providers for our various portfolios. This role will collaborate closely with our Assistant Controller and Director of Accounting to oversee all aspects of the financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls while managing and mentoring a team of accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in U.S. GAAP and international financial reporting standards (IFRS), financial operations, and regulatory compliance to ensure the company’s successful global growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
5 years+ of progressive experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards including U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
Experience managing accounting operations for multiple entities, including international subsidiaries.
Ability to work cross-functionally and respond to various stakeholders needs.
Proficiency in financial systems and ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Yardi).
Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proactive worker who can work independently and resourcefully

Nice To Haves

CPA certification or equivalent preferred.
Knowledge of foreign exchange impacts, transfer pricing and international tax considerations.

Responsibilities

Oversee the month-end and year-end close process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, ensuring strong collaboration and efficiency.
Oversee tax compliance and reporting for new international entities, coordinating with external advisors as required.
Lead the completion of the Annual Audited Financial Statements
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS, as needed.
Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risk while collaborating with internal and external auditors.
Work cross-functionally with other departments (Portfolio Management, Operations, Legal, etc.) and assist in any ad-hoc requests from management or other departments.
Conduct other tasks in the effective running of the business and future growth initiatives.
Assist in ERP system optimization and implementation to support multi-currency and international reporting requirements.
Represent JP Morgan Natural Capital at all levels while maintaining positive public relations.
