About The Position

Rycon Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Controller for its Pittsburgh office. Rycon Construction, Inc. is an employee-owned company (ESOP) that provides construction management, general contracting, and design-build services nationwide. Rycon is an ENR Top 400 Contractor, ENR Top 100 Green Contractor. We have nine offices and specialize in new construction, renovations, and adaptive reuse projects across various sectors including health care, educational, industrial/warehouse, commercial, multi-unit residential, retail, financial, food service/dining, governmental, hospitality, cannabis, self-storage, and LEED facilities. We excel in preconstruction planning, MEP expertise, with experienced project team members focused on the multiple markets we serve. We also have an in-house Architectural Woodwork & Specialty Fabrication Division that ships/installs nationally.

Requirements

  • Five (5) or more years of proven accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals.
  • Computer skills required – Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel – Advanced Proficiency in Excel is a must ), working knowledge of computerized accounting systems (familiarity with COINS OA is a plus).
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work well with others and manage teams of individuals.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Payroll knowledge

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of construction industry preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Running job cost meetings quarterly with personnel from various offices.
  • Generating division financials and reviewing results with each office.
  • Performing account reconciliations.
  • Maintaining the Work in Progress Schedule.
  • Creating and entering journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Creating financial statements.
  • Performing tax preparation - payroll taxes, business privilege tax, sales/use tax etc.
  • Work with various auditors – year end audit/payroll audits, sales and use tax audit, union, etc.
  • Participate in meetings with senior executives.
