About The Position

The Controller is responsible for supporting the financial management and accounting operations of the hospital through oversight of financial reporting, month-end close activities, internal controls, accounts payable, payroll review, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis. Working closely with the CFO, the Controller ensures the accuracy of financial records, supports budgeting and forecasting processes, develops operational reporting tools, and provides leadership to accounting and business office functions while maintaining compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA or CMA required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
  • Previous healthcare or hospital finance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the CFO with month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, variance analysis, budgeting support, forecasting, and routine financial operations.
  • Supervise accounts payable activities and assist with oversight of payroll, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, internal controls, and reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare tax-related schedules and filings, maintain regulatory documentation, and respond to governmental agency inquiries and notices.
  • Monitor accounting activity to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective internal controls; identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and support audit activities.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, spreadsheets, and workflow tools to improve operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and departmental effectiveness.
  • Generate and analyze data from accounting, payroll, and business office systems to support informed decision-making and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to finance, payroll, accounts payable, and business office personnel while fostering a collaborative, customer-service-focused environment.
  • Partner with hospital leadership and department managers to support financial objectives, operational performance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain professional standards of confidentiality, integrity, accountability, and customer service in all aspects of the role.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
