ETC Florida is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and financial management functions. This role is focused on financial reporting, close processes, cash management, and job-cost accounting, while partnering with operations to drive financial performance. Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with construction or project-based accounting strongly preferred
  • Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader
  • Strong expertise in: QuickBooks Desktop
  • Strong expertise in: Month-end close and financial reporting
  • Strong expertise in: Cash flow forecasting
  • Strong expertise in: Job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition
  • Advanced Excel skills

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA strongly preferred
  • MBA a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own the full-cycle accounting function, including month-end close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain and optimize QuickBooks Desktop as the system of record.
  • Lead cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization, with a focus on construction project cash cycles.
  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable, collections, and billing cycles, ensuring alignment with project milestones.
  • Oversee accounts payable processes and optimize payment timing.
  • Drive accurate job costing, WIP reporting, and project profitability analysis.
  • Partner with operations to provide insights on labor productivity, cost overruns, and material usage.
  • Establish and maintain strong cost tracking and revenue recognition practices for project-based accounting.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax, sales/use tax, and insurance requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvements in financial processes, reporting accuracy, and system efficiency.
  • Support leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
  • Provide financial insights to support growth initiatives, including potential acquisitions and expansion planning.
  • Present clear, actionable financial reporting to ownership and senior leadership.
  • Oversee and mentor accounting and administrative staff, ensuring accountability and performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, project management, and procurement.
