About The Position
Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller develops, implements and administers financial control, analysis, operating systems, and internal controls, and manages the Finance Department. The Controller ensures that policies are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), regulations and existing federal and state laws. The incumbent of this position must have a solid understanding of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and fund accounting experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Five years of professional finance experience.
- Two years of lead or supervisory duties in finance.
- Solid understanding of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
- Fund accounting experience.
- Must produce a negative drug screen for all substances illegal in the State of Alaska prior to start of employment.

- Experience in a hospital or integrated health system
- HFMA certification
