About The Position

Are you a strategic finance leader looking to make an impact in a dynamic, multi-site environment? We’re seeking a Controller, Aggregates to lead the financial operations of our Aggregates division, ready mix and trucking. Reporting directly to the Divisional Controller, Aggregates & Construction, you will play a critical role in delivering accurate, timely financial reporting and insights that drive decision-making at the highest levels of the organization. This role offers flexibility to be based out of Barrie, Niagara, or Oakville, with monthly travel to Owen Sound and Barrie. Salary: $115,000 – $130,000 based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience
  • A university degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field
  • CPA designation (required)
  • A valid Ontario Class G Driver’s Licence in good standing
  • Experience working in a multi-location environment
  • Experience using an ERP system (experience with Oracle preferred) for data management, mining, and analytics to produce financial statements and reports
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, charts, conditional formatting, data analysis tools)
  • Experience supervising a team of direct reports

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the construction or aggregates industry and project-based accounting (considered a strong asset)

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial statements and cost reports for month end and quarter end to ensure accuracy of financial information, and detail areas of concern for senior management review
  • Overseeing the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledger accounts to ensure the integrity of the information gathered and reported
  • Creating monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports and analysis highlighting variances or anomalies and provide financial support to senior management for decision making.
  • Overseeing the accuracy of the company’s data processing to ensure the accuracy of results within the ERP system
  • Coordinating and preparing annual budgets, planning processes, and forecasting to assist senior management analyze anticipated financial results
  • Preparing year end working paper files and supporting documentation for the annual audited financial statements
  • Completing regulatory filings as necessary including T5 and T5018 slips and returns, excise tax and review HST.
  • Attending operating, financial review, and senior management meetings to provide support and direction financially and otherwise
  • Ensuring proper implementation and documentation of financial controls to ensure the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting systems and processes
  • Overseeing workloads and providing supervision to direct reports to ensure work is done accurately
